To commemorate the BMW M4 G82’s triumph in last year’s DTM championship with Schubert Motorsport, the current-generation BMW M4 is receiving a vibrant makeover. Images captured during the Oschersleben season opener showcase this special edition model donning a striking livery inspired by the DTM-spec race car used in 2022. This M4 DTM Champion Edition is not just a display piece, as it will soon be available for purchase.
According to reports from Bimmer Today, the plan is to produce nine of these cars but only sell seven. Team boss Torsten Schubert will keep one of them, while the other will be driven by the team’s talented 24-year-old racing driver Sheldon van der Linde from South Africa. These special editions are based on the Competition model and come in rear-wheel-drive configuration, featuring the iDrive 8 infotainment system.
The M4 DTM Champion Edition stands out with its red, yellow, and black theme, paying homage to the DTM race car. It proudly displays a “31” logo on a white background, mirroring the race car’s design. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with various M Performance Parts, including a front splitter, canards, carbon fiber finishers for the quad exhaust tips, and a black graphic with “Schubert Motorsport” lettering on the lower part of the trunk lid.

Noteworthy details on the exterior include Sheldon van der Linde’s initials alongside the South African flag on the quarter glass, accompanied by “DTM Champion Edition” branding. The hood features a “DTM Edition” graphic to complete the distinctive appearance.
Inside the cabin, most of the interior remains unchanged, but a few special touches are added. The headrests are embroidered with “#31 SVL DTM Champion Edition” in white, and the storage lid on the center console displays a unique plaque indicating the car’s exclusivity with “1/9” next to the Hockenheim track layout. Additional logos can be found on the side sills and on the passenger side of the dashboard.
The M4 DTM Champion Edition is set to go on sale on June 5, and pricing details will be announced at that time. It goes without saying that this limited edition model will command a premium over the standard rear-wheel-drive M4 Competition Coupe, which is available in Germany starting at €100,400. This is not the first time BMW has introduced such a special edition, as they previously unveiled the F87-based namesake car in October 2016 to celebrate Marco Wittmann’s success in the DTM championship.
