At the Milano Monza auto show, Italian electric vehicle (EV) startup Aehra is making waves with its latest sedan. Although not widely recognized, this Milano-based company has previously showcased a battery-electric crossover, and the sedan marks its second product. Both vehicles are aimed at high-end EV buyers, boasting impressive performance figures and striking designs.
Aehra has set an ambitious target of 800 km per charge for the sedan, without disclosing the specifics of how it plans to achieve it. This range is likely based on the WLTP test cycle, equating to approximately 497 miles per charge. While the exact hardware details remain undisclosed, it’s reasonable to assume that the Aehra sedan will feature a battery similar to the Lucid Air, which offers a 92-kWh power pack for its 410-mile-range variant.
Although specific specifications for this EV startup’s sedan are scarce, its bold styling is evident. Notably, the car showcases “billionaire doors” that retract upward at each opening, creating a striking visual impact. The rear doors are hinged at the rear, potentially facilitating an elegant entry into the back seat. While the interior remains largely unseen, it is apparent that the sedan accommodates four passengers.
The name Aehra is a fusion of the Latin word for “era” and the modern Italian word for “aerodynamic.” The company has announced plans to deliver cars to the US and European markets by 2026, followed by expansion into China and other markets. However, meeting this ambitious timeline may prove challenging, as automobile manufacturing is notoriously complex. Faraday Future, another company with ambitious goals, encountered production setbacks following its debut in 2017 with the FF91.
The location of Aehra’s sedan and SUV production facilities remains unknown. Nonetheless, with deliveries scheduled just a few years away, it is likely that the company has secured a factory. Only time will reveal whether this EV startup can successfully produce these eye-catching sedans or fade into obscurity.
